(This is also why I deliberately don't name any of my sims after real life people either). I named a younger, secondary character Helena, wrote the entire first book, gave it several revisions and self-published it and didn't realize that I had "named" her the same name as a young girl that our family knows . . .
I've also used three other names that coincide with names of friends of my daughters . . . without meaning to . . . not using character traits or anything. I'm just used to those names and they were in the back of my head while I was writing. I've been trying to slow down my naming process and think it through more because of those instances.
And my MC, Clara, has the same name as someone we know now - but when I first wrote the book, I didn't know her, so I decided that didn't count. Or, at least I hope it doesn't. agh.Tyrean Martinsonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15356604721537744361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8203719610395611719.post-24999553144815065622015-04-22T11:04:32.211-04:002015-04-22T11:04:32.211-04:00I hadn't considered revenge naming, but now yo...I hadn't considered revenge naming, but now you've given me an idea.cleemckenziehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15456109243453726483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8203719610395611719.post-77325233204548752852015-04-22T10:34:12.344-04:002015-04-22T10:34:12.344-04:00I've never used names of people I know. Hopefully. But anything slightly unusual, if they share a name with someone you know, it might raise questions. I think I'm totally of the "change the names to protect the innocent" school, especially with villains (maybe not so innocent in that case!)Nick Wilfordhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03841776353790635132noreply@blogger.com
