Too Tired to Do Anything

I'm having the hardest time being productive this week. Like, I was supposed to write today's blog post two days ago, for example. Remember my crazy color-coded schedule from last week? I made another one for this week but I haven't followed it at all. So like most of my ideas to stay organized, I feel like this one is already going out the window.

I'm sure it's some combination of Daylight Savings Time and just not feeling well (*cough* PMS *cough*). I want to get up early every morning but when the time actually comes I just can't make myself get up. And then when I sleep in, it makes it so much harder for me to be productive. My brain just doesn't feel like functioning lately.

And I had so many things I wanted/needed to get done this week! I really need to get my A to Z posts done, look for pictures for them, finish my editing list, write these new scenes that are buzzing around in my head, write a guest post, finish my resume and cover letter and apply to some jobs, look into submitting some poems and short stories to magazines, start trying to figure out freelance writing. Not to mention several trips to the gym, keeping up with my diet and daily exercising, some deep cleaning of the apartment, grocery shopping, and all of the other daily chores I have to do.

Oh, wait. Maybe my brain was way ahead of me. Maybe it looked at all of the things I planned on doing and was just like, "Hahaha nope. Sleep." I know I should focus on one thing at a time, but I really want to get all of this stuff done. But maybe having all of these things to choose from makes it impossible to choose one at all.

So I don't really know. Maybe the whole schedule thing was a bad idea. Or maybe this was just a bad week to try to do it. I'll probably try it again next week and see what happens. For now I'm just going to make some coffee and try to get at least one thing done today.

  1. I always get knocked out of whack whenever we change the clocks. Doesn't matter if it's springing ahead or falling back. I'm learning to plan ahead and not expect too much out of myself around that time.

    Hang in there, Sarah!

  2. You have a lot planned and you may just be tiring yourself out by thinking about it all at once. Day light savings and PMS doesn't help, I'm sure. I'd say give yourself the rest of today. Don't stress or guilt trip yourself over doing nothing. Just let yourself do nothing and tomorrow make yourself get to work. No idea if that will work for you, but maybe. =)

  3. I felt the same way yesterday. I was exhausted, tired, and just BLAH! My body felt achy for some reason and I just didn't want to do anything. I did manage to edit a short story later on. Sometime we need a break, though. When we feel tired, our body is letting us know we need to rest. Take some time to rest!

  4. I hear you; Daylight Savings Time always messes me up. I never sleep well and feel so tired and lazy. Give yourself a break and get some rest, and when you're feeling better, you can give that crazy schedule a try :)

  5. Gosh, this is crazy! I feel the same way. I'm sure Daylight Savings Time has something to do with it all. I hate the time change with a passion--every year it seems to get tougher on my mind and body. I've been also thinking an overindulgence in sugar recently might have something to do with the way I've been feeling.

Hopefully we'll all be feeling more energetic next week after we've gotten acclimated to the time change. I hope so.

  6. Well, we haven't had Daylight Savings Time yet so I've got that to look forward to. But I would say if you focus on one thing at a time, doing it to the best of your ability and blocking out everything else, you'll feel more fulfilled than if you flit from thing to thing not really doing anything. Easier said than done, I know!

  7. I'd just pick one thing, only one and do it tomorrow. It sounds like you're being overwhelmed by everything (I would be) and need to slow it down. Besides, with one thing accomplished, maybe you'll find some extra oomph to tackle another thing. Don't get down on yourself though, it's a surefire momentum killer.

  8. Caffeine is good. And at least one thing done is a good thing. That's a great starting place.

  9. You might want to cut some of those out. lol Or instead of a weekly schedule, do like a monthly schedule. Space some of that mess out, gal!

  10. I hate having a list of all the things I need to do staring me down. Just makes me want to quit before I start! Like cleaning the fish tank- which I was going to do today- but just can't find the umph to do it. Ah, well!

  11. My God. You have a lot on your plate, lady. Sheesh. I felt overwhelmed just reading it. I know I'm a few days late but I hope you're feeling a little more relaxed and have gotten some of it taken care of. Just remember to breathe. Coffee, and breathe.
